Funeral Liturgy

Because of our belief not only in the immortality of the soul, but also in the resurrection of the body, the Church professes hope in the face of death, and acts with charity in the funeral rites. The Church provides a number of prayers for the faithful to offer both to accompany the dying of a loved one and to strengthen our faith upon their death. Through private prayer and public funeral rites, we strengthen our faith and hope, comfort those who mourn, and bury the bodily remains of the deceased with care befitting what was the Temple of the Holy Spirit.

It likewise asks that the Christian faithful continue to offer prayers for deceased family members and friends. Masses celebrated for the deceased on the anniversaries of death or at other significant times continue the Church’s prayer and remembrance. To schedule a Mass intention, please stop in the main office or call 303-979-7688. You can also email Ina at icastillo@sfcparish.org.

  • SECOND, at your scheduled planning meeting your family will meet with the following:

    • one of our priests to plan the Mass,

    • a member of the Worship Ministry to plan the music,

    • and with Trudy, to discuss what to expect on the day of the funeral and to answer any questions you may have.

*Although cremation is permitted by the Church, families are encouraged to have the body present at the funeral rites with cremation to follow.
